Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 200 g pasta (fettuccine or penne) Any preferred pasta shape can be used.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Use unsalted butter for better flavor control.
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour This helps to thicken the sauce.
  • 2 cups milk Whole milk is recommended for richer sauce.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Add more for extra cheesiness if desired.
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Fresh parsley for garnish Chopped for presentation.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute until it forms a paste.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder; mix until smooth.
  6. Combine the cooked pasta with the white sauce and mix well.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Cool the pasta to room temperature before storing. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Add a little pasta cooking water if the sauce gets too thick while reheating.
