Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 3 large sweet onions Use large sweet onions for best flavor.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter Melted for sautéing.
Cheese Mixture
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Monterey jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the sweet onions into rings.
  3. In a bowl, mix garlic powder, thyme, black pepper, and salt.
Cooking
  1. Melt butter in a pan and sauté the onion rings until slightly caramelized (about 5-7 minutes).
  2. Layer the sautéed onion rings in a baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the mixed spices over the onions, then layer the cheeses on top (cheddar, Monterey jack, and Parmesan).
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

Serve warm right from the oven. Pairs well with grilled meat, sandwiches, or as a party snack. For a bold contrast, drizzle with salted caramel sauce or serve with ketchup or ranch.
