Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked chicken, garlic powder, onion powder, chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, rice, black pepper, and milk.
- Stir well until all ingredients are mixed together.
Baking
- Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish.
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve hot from the oven with a green salad or steamed vegetables. Cool the casserole to room temperature and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through, about 15-20 minutes. Use cooked chicken from a rotisserie to save time. If you like more sauce, add a little extra chicken broth. Let it rest 5 minutes after baking so the rice absorbs the liquid. Use sharp cheddar for a stronger cheese flavor.
