Parmesan Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced Fully cooked ham works best.
  • 1 cup heavy cream A light version can use half-and-half.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Add Gruyère or cheddar for richer flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt Taste the cream mixture to adjust.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Taste the cream mixture to adjust.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Dot on top before baking.
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the diced ham.
  3. In a bowl, mix the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Pour half of this mixture over the potatoes and ham.
  4. Sprinkle half of the Parmesan cheese on top.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ham, cream mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese.
  6. Dot the top with butter.
Baking
  1. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
  3. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Cool to room temperature before storing. Cover tightly and store in the fridge for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe dish for up to 2 months. To reheat, thaw if frozen, then bake covered at 350°F (175°C) until heated through, about 20–30 minutes.
