  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for best results.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Use plain or Italian breadcrumbs.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Freshly grated for better flavor.
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley Fresh parsley enhances flavor.
  • 1 large egg Helps bind the meat mixture.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Add flavor to the meatballs.
Gravy Ingredients
  • 1 large onion, sliced For flavor in the gravy.
  • 2 cups beef broth Homemade or store-bought.

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Form mixture into meatballs.
Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 7-10 minutes.
  2. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add sliced onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add beef broth to the skillet, scraping up any bits from the bottom. Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes until cooked through.

Notes

Serve meatballs hot over rice or mashed potatoes. For better flavor, brown the meatballs well and adjust seasoning at the end.
