Batter Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Common pantry item for the batter.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Can use jaggery for a deeper flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder Helps with the batter rising.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup water Adjust as needed to achieve the right batter consistency.
Frying Ingredients

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water and mix until you achieve a smooth batter.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning occasionally.
  3. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

Notes

Serve gulgule warm on a plate. They taste good with tea or coffee. Dust with a little powdered sugar on top for extra sweetness. To store, let gulgule cool fully. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerate for 2–3 days. Reheat in a low oven or skillet to retain crispiness.
