Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper
For serving
  • Mashed potatoes for serving

Method

Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
  3. Drain excess fat from the pan.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce until the gravy becomes smooth.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.
  8. Serve the beef and gravy over hot mashed potatoes.

Notes

Brown the beef well for more flavor. If the gravy is too thick, add a little more broth. If it is too thin, simmer a bit longer.
