Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 1 cup butter, softened Use room temperature
  • 1 box cake mix (yellow or butter cake) Chocolate will change texture
  • 1 large egg For crust
For the filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Use room temperature
  • 2 large eggs For filling
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the softened butter, cake mix, and 1 egg until well combined.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese and the remaining 2 eggs until smooth.
  5. Add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the crust in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the edges are golden and the center is set.
  8. Allow to cool before cutting into bars and serving.

Notes

For perfect bars, use room temperature ingredients and do not overbake. Bars can be served with a dusting of powdered sugar or fresh berries.
