Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Let the rib eye steak sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Season both sides of the steak generously with salt and black pepper.
Cooking
- Heat olive oil in a pan over high heat until shimmering.
- Add the steak to the hot pan and sear for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a crust forms.
- Flip the steak and add minced garlic and butter to the pan.
- Cook for another 3-4 minutes, basting the steak with the melted butter.
- If desired, you can add fresh herbs for extra flavor.
Serving
- Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- Slice the steak against the grain and serve with the pan juices or a pat of garlic butter.
Notes
Pat the steak dry before seasoning for a better crust. Use a hot pan and do not crowd it. Baste with butter to add flavor and keep the meat moist. Let the steak rest to keep the juices inside. Use fresh garlic for best taste. For variations, add sliced mushrooms or use garlic powder instead of fresh garlic.
