Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
- Add the melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
- If desired, fold in the optional ingredients like walnuts or chocolate chips.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter to keep the bread tender. Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing.
