Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 125 g Ghee Solidified overnight or chilled
  • 62 g Powdered Sugar For sweetness
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence For flavor
  • 250 g All Purpose Flour Added little by little
Filling Ingredients
  • 25 g Walnuts Cut into halves
  • 100 g Dates De-seeded and stuffed with walnuts
  • 1 each Egg Yolk or Egg White For brushing, skip for vegetarian

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Prepare the ghee by melting it and leaving it to solidify overnight or chill it until firm.
  2. Beat the solid ghee until it becomes creamy.
  3. Add powdered sugar and beat again until smooth.
  4. Mix in vanilla essence.
  5. Add the flour little by little while beating until the dough becomes crumbly. Press a bit of dough to see if it holds shape.
  6. Cut walnuts into halves.
Filling and Shaping
  1. De-seed the dates, stuff each date with a walnut half, and roll gently to smooth edges.
  2. Place each stuffed date on some dough, press to cover, and smooth the edges.
  3. Brush the top with egg yolk or egg white if you are not vegetarian; skip egg if you are vegetarian.
Baking
  1. Bake at 180° C for 10 – 12 minutes. Let cool slightly and enjoy.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature with tea, coffee, or milk. Store in an airtight container for 3–4 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. For freezing, use a freezer-safe box for up to 2 months.
