  • 1 bag 22 oz frozen shredded hash browns, thawed and well-drained
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.25 cups finely diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • as needed Nonstick cooking spray For greasing the baking sheet

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and coat it with nonstick cooking spray or use parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed and well-drained shredded hash browns with shredded cheddar cheese, finely diced onion, melted butter, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Stir everything thoroughly until incorporated.
  3. Spread the hash brown mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Press down lightly to compact the mixture.
Cooking
  1. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the edges turn deeply golden and crispy.
  2. For extra crunch, broil the hash browns for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  3. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares or wedges.

Notes

Serve warm as a breakfast main with eggs, bacon, or as a side with grilled meat. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
