Ingredients
  

For the Chicken
  • 1 lb chicken breast, sliced Can substitute with chicken thighs.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • to taste none Salt and pepper
  • none Pita bread For serving, warm up before assembling.
For the Tzatziki Sauce
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, grated Ensure cucumber is well-drained.
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped Can substitute with mint or parsley.
  • to taste none Salt

Method
 

Marinating Chicken
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Preparing Tzatziki Sauce
  1. In a separate bowl, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, dill, and salt to create the tzatziki sauce.
Cooking Chicken
  1. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the marinated chicken until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes per side.
Assembling Gyros
  1. Warm the pita bread on the grill or in a pan.
  2. Assemble the gyros by placing the grilled chicken in the pita and drizzling with tzatziki sauce.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, let the chicken marinate for several hours or overnight. If you don’t have dill, use other herbs like mint or parsley in the tzatziki. To save time, prepare the tzatziki sauce ahead of time and refrigerate it.
