  • 1 cup Chicken broth or water
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil Optional for browning
Optional Ingredients
  • Various herbs and spices (such as dried oregano, thyme, rosemary, paprika) For added flavor
  • Cream of mushroom soup, cream cheese, salsa, barbecue sauce Optional additions

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Season chicken breasts generously with salt, pepper, and any desired herbs or spices.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the chicken breasts on all sides for about 2-3 minutes per side (optional).
  3. Place the chicken breasts in the crock pot.
  4. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the crock pot.
  5. Pour in chicken broth or water.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and easily shreds with a fork.
  2. Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks.
  3. If using a sauce or additional ingredients, stir them in now.
  4. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For meal prepping, cook the chicken ahead of time and store it for quick meals.
