Preparation
- Season chicken breasts generously with salt, pepper, and any desired herbs or spices.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the chicken breasts on all sides for about 2-3 minutes per side (optional).
- Place the chicken breasts in the crock pot.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the crock pot.
- Pour in chicken broth or water.
Cooking
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and easily shreds with a fork.
- Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks.
- If using a sauce or additional ingredients, stir them in now.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For meal prepping, cook the chicken ahead of time and store it for quick meals.
