Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the broccoli florets in boiling water for about 5 minutes until tender, then drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and garlic powder to make a roux.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.
- Combine the cooked broccoli with the cheese sauce and season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the mixture into a baking dish.
Baking
- In a bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese and sprinkle over the broccoli mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
Notes
Serve hot right from the oven. Pairs well with roasted chicken, grilled fish, or a simple salad. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. For best texture, reheat in the oven.
