Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 ribeye steaks, 1-inch thick
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the ribeye steaks dry with paper towels and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Season both sides of the steaks with salt and black pepper.
Cooking
  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ribeye steaks to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  3. In the last minute of cooking, add the butter and minced garlic to the skillet.
  4. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks as they finish cooking.
  5. Remove from heat, let rest for a few minutes, then serve warm.

Notes

Slice the steak against the grain for the best texture. Good sides are mashed potatoes, a simple salad, or steamed vegetables. Cool leftover steak to room temperature before refrigerating in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
