Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Optional: stir in bourbon or rum if using.
- Add the cubed bread to the custard mixture and gently mix until well coated. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to soak up the custard.
- If desired, fold in any optional add-ins such as raisins or nuts.
Baking
- Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the pudding to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Customize with nuts, fruits, or spices to suit your taste.
