Preparation of Biscuits
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in milk until just combined.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, then roll out to about 1-inch thick.
- Cut out biscuits and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.
Preparation of Gravy
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually add milk, stirring continuously until thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper.
Serving
- Serve biscuits smothered in sausage gravy.
- Split warm biscuits and pour gravy over them.
- Serve with eggs or fried tomatoes, and a side of fruit or a simple green salad.
Notes
Keep in separate airtight containers. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gravy on the stove and warm biscuits in the oven or microwave.
