Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional) Adjust based on preference

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips or nuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Serving
  1. Allow to cool before cutting into squares or bars.

Notes

This recipe is best served warm, dusted with powdered sugar or with a scoop of ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
