Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.
- If desired, fold in the chocolate chips or nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Serving
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares or bars.
Notes
This recipe is best served warm, dusted with powdered sugar or with a scoop of ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
