Ingredients
  

Pastry and Filling Ingredients
  • 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets)
  • 2-3 medium apples peeled and diced Firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are recommended.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Egg Wash Ingredients
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon milk for egg wash

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares (about 4-6 inches).
  3. In a bowl, mix diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour until well combined.
  4. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each puff pastry square.
  5. Fold the pastry over to form a triangle and seal the edges with a fork.
  6. Beat the egg with milk to make an egg wash and brush it over the tops of the turnovers.
Baking
  1. Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, optionally adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a light dusting of powdered sugar. Pairs well with hot cider or coffee.
