  • 2 lbs Ground beef Use lean ground beef to reduce grease.
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 can Cream of mushroom soup, condensed May swap for cream of chicken if preferred.
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour Use if you want a thicker sauce.
  • 1 dash Cayenne pepper Skip for a milder dish.
  • 1 1/2 cups Saltine crackers Crush by hand or in a bag for a coarse crumb.
  • 2 cups Milk

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, Italian herbs, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into patties.
  3. In a skillet, brown the patties on both sides over medium heat.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and cayenne pepper.
  5. In a baking dish, layer the cooked patties, crushed saltine crackers, and soup mixture.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the dish is bubbly and the meat is cooked through.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

Let the bake cool before storing. Keep in the fridge up to 3 days or freeze portions for up to 2 months.
